Berretta .22 auto

I came across a Berretta .22 with a pop up barrell and beautiful wood grips for $169. Is is it reliable and is this a good price?

It was in excellent condition.

I can only speak for the 25 cal.
It was a piece of junk that constantly jammed. Bought fresh magazines, still problems. The slide is held in place by a straight spring that broke in half after about a 100 rds. Sold it.

A thread recently ran here on this subject. Must have fallen into the abyss that the moderators call the "Archives". There were many replies, most were favorable. Numerous people stated that the Bobcat is a little ammunition finicky, but once you found what it liked, reliability was acceptable. They are very accurate, highly concealable pistols. The price that you quoted is very good for a NIB gun, acceptable if it's used but in very good condition.

Vee,
It's JUNK! I had one for a month and was so happy I sold it. It jams constantly.

I owned one of these for a while. I really liked the size and looks (blued with walnut grips), but it had 3 to 5 failures to feed per box. It didn't matter what type of ammo I used. They recommend Stingers, but these wouldn't feed reliably either. If I tried to shoot fast it would jam on every clip. The best that it would do was 2 to 3 failures per box of 50. Needless to say I no longer own this pistol. I recently read an article (I think Gun Tests but I'm not sure) that stated that none of the 22 autos were really reliable, and the Bobcat was one of the worst. I now own a Taurus 94 2in. This revolver holds 9 rounds and never fails to function.

The tip-barrel mouseguns have a nasty "feature" which is lack of extractor. If you have a dud .22, extracting it will be hard and possibly dangerous (i.e. you'd have to pry the crushed rim off the barrel while it is still a life round!) I would not consider owning it myself for that reason.

Gentlemen,

Thank you for your comments. It seems that I don't need this gun.
