Berreta Target Pistol

I just got my Berreta Model 87 target pistol
two days ago. I am pleased with the fit and finish of the gun. It is a great size. Not too long or too short. Fits good in the hand and points well. Good balance as well. It also comes with an integral weaver rail. I am going to mount an aimpoint comp xd scope on it. The rail extends all the way
to the back of the gun unlike the trailsides
which only comes back about mid way. I ordered a trailside last year and got tired of waiting. I got the Berreta in 4 days. I am going to shoot it today. An article in Handguns magazine, May or June issue, describes 1000 rounds being fired through the
gun with no malfunctions of any kind. I hope it works as well for me. I'll post as soon as I can.

The pistol shoots great. I put 200 rounds through it. There was 1 misfire. I ejected the case and found a solid firing pin strike.
I reloaded it and it fired fine. I was shooting at about 8 yrds and it was easy to
print dime size groups on the target. That was just fooling around, I haven't tried to get serious with the pistol yet. The guns grip is thin and narrow which I am not used to yet. If it had thicker grips I think I could have easily shot tighter groups. But that is easily remedied, so I am not worried
about it. The grips are great for small handed individuals. The trigger is pretty good and overall I am happy with it. The pistol is well made and balances well. One of several features that I like is the full length integral weaver rail. It affords the shooter a wider range of mounting postitions.
The barrel is also replaceable unlike the trailsides. I had originally ordered the Traislide but I got tired of waiting for the
damn thing. I don't regret my decision one bit. In fact those who are considering the Trailside should to take a serious look at the Berreta. I have a felling they won't be disappointed.
