Berreta pocket pistols

For some reason my attention has been completly drawn to pocket pistols of late. I think that Berreta has the best looking ones but was wondering how real life user thought about them. Several questions I have are why does the .25 carry more rounds than the .22 (8 v. 7) also why is the .32 tomcat titanium heavier than the regular tomcat? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of titanium?

Stainless steel is rust RESISTENT but will rust if not properly cared for or if a lower grade of stainless steel is used. Titanium, on the other hand, will NEVER rust. For somebody who lives in the hot & humid Florida swamps, the anti-rust benefit of titanium is even more important to me than the weight aspect. Although, you bring up a very interesting question because titanium is about two-thirds as heavy as steel and therefore (if everything else is the same) the titanium model should be lighter.

.22s are a rimmed cartridge & .25 are not. that little extra bit of rim sticking out takes up more room in the magazine so you have 1 less round with the .22.

i had a model 21 .25 caliber. got rid of it when the guardian/autauga/kel-tec .32s came out. didn't see the sense in carrying a larger, less powerful gun. before that, about your only .32 option was seecamp which were/are very difficult to obtain.

Sometimes I think I am one of the few Tomcat fans around here. Not as small or light as the Seecamp or NAA Guardian, but mine works. Feeds ball and Golddots. I carry it in a Galco front pocket holster.

I owned a model 21 in .22LR, but got rid of it. As I recall, I had to be very careful chambering a round or the slide would pull off in my hand. It finally did that one too many times so it went to the gun show.

Utvols,
I know exactly how you feel. I have one of these little jewels in my pocket all the time. (No matter what else is on my hip.) My latest is a stainless Beretta Jetfire in .25ACP. .25's are rather underpowered, so I keep mine loaded with MagSafes. Nasty little surprise for the bad guy. I've been saying that small pocket pistols have their place for some time.
I sure didn't know that the Titanium Tomcats were out yet. I haven't seen one. As Tomcats go, I was told that the stainless "wide bodies" are the way to go. A lot of the earlier matte black ones had problems. I plan to give the Titanium ones a "strong" look. :) I've had good luck with my pocket .32's. I have a chrome P-32 that feeds everything I've tried.

I bought a Tomcat shortly after they became readily available to the public. I was excited to get it, but that excitement soon turned to disappointment when it refused to feed ANY hollowpoint (Silvertips were the worst) reliably. I couldn't get it to shoot 3 rounds in a row without a failure to feed. I called Beretta and asked them what they would do about it since they had advertised for over a year that it WOULD feed Silvertips. The man I talked to was rather noncommittal and said I should return it. When asked how long it would take he said at least 6 weeks. That made me mad and I took the thing and traded it off the next day. Recently I bought a KelTec P32 and have been totally pleased. I've put over 100 rounds of various ball and HP through it and it has not stuttered once. That Tomcat was the only Beretta I had ever owned and I seriously doubt I will ever buy another one, although I know many people who are totally pleased with their larger pistols.

My Beretta Jetfire has been totally reliable with over 500 rounds through it so far... half of them Hornady hollowpoints.

I had a 21A in 22 lr, it would only work with 22 mini mags, the longer brass in the stingers wouldn't make it out of the gun.

mine wasn't very accurate either. atleast not compared to my friends. which is very reliable, and accurate for such little thing.

I have a Tomcat and find it extreamly reliable. I have over 500 rounds through it and have had only one fail to feed and that was on the second magazine through it.
I've fed it every kind of hollowpoint available and it feeds them all. BTW it is least accurate with Silvertips and most accurate with Gold Dots.

Great pistol.

Also, I'm surprised no one else picked up on this, there is no Titanimum Tomcats. There is the original in blue or matte finish and Stainless Steel. The stainless Tomcat is often refered to as the "Wide Slide" because the brittelness of the stainless steel required a beefier slide, thus the Wide Slide nickname and additional weight.

Coastie,
I heard that the Titanium Tomcats are going to be out this fall. If they prove to be as reliable as the stainless "wide body", I'll definitely get one. :)

RE titanium-I have the same weight question-saw Titanium model listed on Bereta web site-have emailed Bereta but as yet no answer.

I have a Berreta Tomcat .32 acp. I use it for my Church gun on Sundays. It fits nicely in my pants pocket. No one evn notices. You never know where you will need protection, these days.
