Beretta ?

41 Magnum

Speaking of Beretta, & that would be me ! I was just given a neat little Beretta 21A Bobcat. Any one here have any experience with one of these ?
It is, or would be a fun little pistol, but has many FTF malfunctions. It appears to be quite finicky about ammo. I've heard that CCI Stingers will
function well in it, but they are really kind of scarce here, & expensive.
Is there any other solution to making one of these function as a dependable shooter ?

I have had 2 Beretta 21’s in the past with good results. Mine functioned flawlessly with Stingers and Mini Mags.

I have always been a bit reluctant to use CCI Stingers in semi-auto firearms because of the longer case length. The Stinger case length is almost 3 mm longer, but the projectile is shorter so the case over-all length is the same as for other 22 long rifle ammo.

But the longer case might be more difficult for some semi-autos to eject. And in some firearms with a short chamber reamed for normal 22lr case length, it is possible that the front of the longer case could enter the leade of the barrel, pinching the base of the projectile potentially causing over-pressure and a case blow-out.

I have never owned a Bobcat and I very much doubt that the chamber length is reamed with that degree of precision, but you might check out berettaforum dot net and ask the Beretta experts over there if there is any problem using Stingers in your pistol.

I have found that in general high velocity (1200 fps or greater) 22 lr ammo tends to cycle small, semi-auto pistols best. I would try CCI Mini-mags and maybe Aguila Super Extra Hi-Velocity which can usually be found a bit cheaper than CCI ammo.

Mine wasn’t fussy at all. Maybe there’s a reason this one was given to you. Have a gunsmith check?

Ah on review I see yours is a .22. Supposed to be more finicky unfortunately.
