Can somebody explain to me on the different 92 series pistols which are safety only, which are decocker only, and which are a combination of both ? terry

I believe that the standard operation is combo safety and decocker.

The G model is the decocker only.

I do not think they have a safety only version, unless they offer a SA only version of the 92.

I am only aware of a DA/SA with Safety/Decocker (92FS/M9), and DA/SA with decocker only (92G).

The Vertec model 92 has different gripframe and I think that's the only difference, and then the Brigadier has a heavier slide than either the 92 or the Vertec.

What does the 92F and 92S have?

The 92S is the older Italian version that has the magazine release near the bottom of the left side grip instead of near the trigger guard. The slides are blued instead of Brunition finished. It also has smaller military style sights than later versions.

I picked one up from PSA when they still had them in stock. They are great shooters, but darned if I can get used to the location of the magazine release.

The 92S is the surplus pistol recently available from several sources for ~$300. SOG still has some left.

92 safety on frame, magazine release on heel

92S safety moved to slide safety is also a decocker

92SB mag release moved to thumb (I think this is also when the firing pin safety was added)

92SB-F changes to frame : trigger guard dished, mag well flared

92F same as 92SB-F

92FS enlarged hammer pin

92G same as 92FS, but the safety is spring loaded so as to serve as decocker only

92D double action only

Pardon me if you already are aware of this but the Taurus 92 and 99 (which has adjustable sights) are pretty much copies of the Beretta 92 and put the safety on the frame instead of the slide. IMhO the safety should be on the frame a la 1911 style guns but (shrug) to each their own.
