Beretta Vertec Models.

The grip has a straight backstrap. This makes it suitable for smaller hands.

There is an accessory rail on the dust cover that is compatible with the Glock. Potentially useful for laser or light.

The overall effect is an ugly Beretta when seen in person, although one that is potentially more useful.

Concur w/ the ugly. Looks aside, the slimmer grip and accessory rail may prove useful to some and if you check on the Beretta-forum, those guys seem to think it's the 2nd coming...Time will tell

The Vertec has vertical grips, the aforementioned accessory rail, but no one has mentioned the dovetailed front sight, and the higher rear sights. It should be very easy to swap in tritium nightsights on the Vertec.

I have small hands and never much cared for the feel of the standard 92/96 series. The changes in the Vertec make for a much better balance for my hands. Those who prefer the original 92 don't care much for the Vertec, but those who didn't like Berettas before should try handling the Vertec.

The Vertec is a step in the right direction. I carry an M9 every day and I hate it for all the things that they've corrected on the Vertec: mouting rail, grip improvement, shortened trigger pull. It's about time, but a real shame that the military will never see it.

While to some people, the taclight rail makes a nice addon, I think it kills the look. I still haven't even fondled one yet.

Here you go!

Not a good pic, but the only one I could find. I handled one at a gun show today and was thoroughly impressed. I sold off my 92FS a few years back because of the long DA trigger pull and hump back grip. Both of those problems have been corrected.

Neither do I. It's an abomination of a sleek design. But I think Beretta decided to stop worrying about the asthetics and focus on functionality and performance. The DA trigger pull (dry fire) seemed about 1/3 shorter than on my old 92FS, the grip panels were half as thick (and hogue-ish), the grip felt similar to a 1911 with a flat mainspring housing and sight picture was big and bold. I have already put out some feelers as to where I can get one for the best possible price.
