beretta v HK (9mms)

It is time for me to get a new gun. I have been looking at a 9mm Beretta(don't know the modle numbers just that it is a fullsize) and a HK 9mm USP. Both are around 750. I like the feel of both grips, but have not had a chane to fire either. Range doesn't have any to test. Both seem like great firearms. Which one would you guys choose.

Oy, what a pair. Pick the one you like best - they're both accurate, reliable, and durable.

Me? I'd take the H&K.

By the way, $750 is a rip-off. The H&K should be $600 or under (my dealer has 'em for $575).

HK USP9 and Beretta 92 run $550-600 here. I slightly prefer USP to a 92 (have both, though my USP is a 45) but hi-cap mags are just about impossible to find for the USP and plentiful for the 92. HK mags run $100+, 92 mags $40 or so.

USP is slightly more accurate and has cocke&locked or decocker only option. On the 92 decocker only is an option but no C&L. Beretta might have a slight edge in feeding reliability.

Both guns have a either are have a stainless steel, or something silver in color finish on them, could this be way they cost so much. I know the finish is not important but they look dam good. Thanx for the input

Stainless steel or "Inox" in Italian add $20-40, depending on the mfr. I agree, $750 is a rip, $550-600 is the right range for those guns. Good luck, neither is a bad choice, though my personal preference is the H&K. M2

Woah! $750 is WAAAAY off!

My favorite gunshop is known for selling at one price to newbies and a better price for return customers. They tell me that with repeat customers like me, they can afford cost + 10%. First timers get 25%. Even so, the sticker price for an HKUSP45 Stainless (.45 costs more than 9mm) is $659!!! They'd sell one to me for around $600 + tax.

Do NOT, I repeat DO NOT buy either of those guns for $750!!! Unless you live in Commie-fornia, they should be CHEAPER!

If I went for the Beretta styled pistol, I'd choose Taurus! (personal opinion only!) It's just as good a pistol, without the price tag!

But personally, I prefer HK by a long shot to any other full sized handgun. But then again, I'm an all-out polymer junkie these days!

Just my opinion... and probably not a very good one :)

Thanks for the advice. I recently joined a range that gives really good discounts to the members. I going to see If they can get it cheaper.

The Beretta inox usually goes for around $550-$600 like the other's said. Expect that price to continue to drop as sources for hi-caps dry up. In CA I see sales on them all the time because no one wants a full size 9mm with a ten round limit.

I have both, and the decision is the same as between Pepsi and Coke.

They are different, yet the same.

If I could have only one, it would be the Beretta ONLY because of the difference in obtaining additional high-capacity magizines. If you're happy with 10 rounds, then the HK.

FWIW

Both prices are high. I've seen stainless Beretta Brigadiers for $559 in Houston; a regular stainless is about $510. As to the HK, $625 seems about right. However, I've seen posts on other boards that HK is discontinuing the stainless USPs, and dealers are getting great prices. As this is a rumor, check with HK as to whether it is true. If it is, you should be able to find a better deal.

Both pistols are very reliable although in the long run I would have to give the feeding edge to the Beretta.

Personal preference would be the Beretta. It balances better in my hand and the recoil is very manageable. With the H&K it feels too top heavy and chunky.

That being said, I would not turn down either one if given to me and would feel very adequately armed with either one.

Both prices are high. You may consider an online purchase, via FFL dealers of course. I have the Beretta 92 and like it.

Close call. When I was buying my first pistol, it was between a Beretta Stainless 9mm and HK USP fullsize 9mm. I went with the Beretta, and have been very happy. While I've purchased way too many guns since then, I still don't have a USP (though I did buy 3 USP 9mm Compact Hi-Cap mags in anticipation). The USP compact in 9mm is on my list of things to buy.

Do yourself a favor and check the prices in Gun List at www.collectit.net . In the current issue there is a NIB USP with two full capacity magazines for 500 bucks. Granted a person has to add shipping and then dealer mark up but........
After you've decided if you settle on the Bereatta do yourself another favor and check out the Taurus PT-92/99. Same gun, life time warranty, great customer support, strong supporters of the RKBA and half the price.

I was promised a Shortycicle and I want a Shortycicle!

I am a Beretta man and like H&K alot both guns are great it comes down to what feels good in your hand simple as that. either decision will be a good one

BUT YOU ARE GETTING GANG RAPED ON THE PRICE

I have two berettas and have never paid more than 650 for either G-elite (550) Compact L (650) and the H&K's are in the same price range
