Beretta Px4 Storm .45ACP anybody?

I tried searching for Px4, .45 and I get all threads that have PX4 + all threads that have .45 so I am creating a new thread.

Anybody familiar with the Px4 in .45ACP. I think my next gun will be a .45 and I was thinking of getting a Sig 220. I already have a Sig 226 E2 (Constatine made me envious so I had to go get one) which I love. However, for variety sake, I was thinking of getting a Beretta for a .45.

Any views on the Px4 Storm .45ACP would be appreciated

Not trying to chase you away here. You may have better luck getting your answer here, www.berettaforum.net

I actually was on there before coming here. There were only a couple of reviews of the Px4 Storm .45. Besides, I figure this forum is probably a little more "neutral" than a Beretta Forum would be when reviewing Beretta products

I almost bought one but then went with the 9mm because of $. They built the 45 acp for the US military test (don't think they started the trials before the project was cancelled.) Give it a try and let us know. I think it would be a great gun.

I shot one, of a range-mate's

....and it was BRILLIANT. Do you like the looks? If so, there's no reason to hold back. (lots of folks don't like it)

Once you feel it, you will think to yourself: "Oh yeah, THAT'S the stuff!" It is more comfortable in the hand than a 92, which is no slouch.

The one I shot had a laser, so I can't comment on the sights. But it was quite easy to print tight groups with it.

Of all the 45s I've ever shot, it is my 4th favorite:

1. HK USP Expert
2. EAA Witness Match
3. custom 1911
4. PX4

You'll note that this is the only one in that list that comes in at under $800.

I believe that the Storm carbine can use the same mags, if you get the right version. (correct me if I'm wrong, someone)

Go for it. You can thank me later.

There is a recoil damper on the recoil spring ? If so does the manual say anything about replacement after a certain number of shots ?

I LOVE the Px4 Storm in .45 ACP, especially the type F with the decocker/safety set-up. Ergonomics, looks, and reliability are all awesome.

I own a Sig 220, an XDM, and a glock. In my opinion the Px4 storm is the best polymer .45 out there. If you want to go up in price a little more, the Sig 220 is awesome as well.

I have one and I am selling it. I cannot get it to print tight groups (less than about 4-5") at 15 yards, rested, single-action. I have tried commercial ball, my own lead reloads, and my own lead reloads with oversize bullets from Penn Bullets. It has been completely reliable, but it ain't no target gun.

I seem to be in the minority here so no biggie. I probably just got a bum one.

Have owned the PX4 in all three calibers at one time or another. I currently only own the 40. I wanted something more then the 9mm and I couldnt hit anything with the .45. Just my personal experience.

First shots out of my new px4 - but in 9mm at I think 50 ft. range. Ran through all kinds of crappy lead hand loads and fmj. Nice action on this gun and easy to take down. I really like it.

Dropped a few out of the circle as started to mess with shooting with both eyes open etc. But really like the gun.

Not in any way related to the gun, but dad had some of his reloads that had a bulged case - he was having this problem with his glocks due to the reloader buldging the case - anyway one of these jammed in the barrel. Pretty much had to take it down with the round stuck in there - but was no problem with this beretta. deff. the case cause it was way bulged and would not fit in any barrel.

Very pleased. Only think (-) i noted was the glow night sights didn't seem to glow much. the lights in range were dimm and i didn't see much glow, but will try to charge it a little first next time out.

Just shot a glock 17 the other day while getting certified for "city of chicago" etc. The glock was nice, but i could not easily get to the controls - mag release too small, slide lock too small and no front serrations.
The px4 is so much better. mag release - excellent, slide release - excellent - much bigger/longer, and barrell serrations better - front or if you use only rear.

Pleased with the decocker and safetly too. Might try the large backstrap, but using the standard or medium one at present.

Even my Dad said it shot better than his glock.

Deffinetly recommend!

LawScholar,

Nah, I've shot it enough to be convinced that it is the gun, not me. I put about 500 rounds through it, a lot of it rested. I've changed backstraps, made sure the gun was clean and lubed, tried different trigger finger positions, etc. Plus I can put 'em all in nearly the same hole at 15 yards (rested) with my POS 1911 and the PX4's replacement - a Sig 220 Match Elite.

Like I said, I probably got a bum one. I could have sent it back to Beretta, but I have recently made the decision that all my pistols will wear adjustable sights or be fitted with a scope. Hence the 220.

Love my PX4 45!

I have never fired a more comfortable 45 acp. Perceived recoil is like my wife's 92FS. Accurate, even for a mediocre shot like myself. I love it for both home defense and carry.

I own a PX45 and also the 45 Storm carbine. The mags are not interchangeable on my version (Carbine takes 45 Stoeger magazines). I use the handgun for home defense. I think the chamber might be on the larger end of specs but this doesn't effect accuracy - seems to improves function as the handgun functions with all ammo - lead, hard cast, ball, hollow point.

I do not own a Beretta PX4 but I own 6 Beretta's. My most accurate are my Beretta Cougars (9mm, 40 S&W, 45 ACP). The Cougars have the same rotating barrel as the PX4. You might want to consider a Cougar 8045 instead of a PX4. They are all metal instead of plastic. There are good values on the used marketplace since they are no longer manufactured by Beretta any longer.
