Beretta Neos Carbine Kit

So I thought I'd see how hard it is to find a carbine kit for my Beretta Neos. Turns out it's pretty hard.

Anyone have a lead?

Spent an hour searching and . . .

Well, I spent about an hour searching. Found one for sale on . . . GunsAmerica (maybe) anyway it was $550 so . . . Looks like it would be fun but not at that price.

I picked one up last year on Ebay for $225, NIB. I saved the Ebay search in my favorites bar, and checked it every couple hours. It took about a month, maybe 2, but all of a sudden, 10 showed up from the same seller. They were gone in less than a day. You have to be fast.

The Carbine kit is great, its much shorter than a 10/22, and lighter. It has a lightweight barrel with a plastic outer cover. You definitely need shooting glasses because the bolt is very close to your face, and it spits debris a bit. I put a cheap BSA scope on mine, and its easy to get 2" groups at 50 yards. I'm sure its even better than that with a better scope, and a steady hand. I have a couple negative comments. Its not a barrel you can thread. I would really like to suppress mine, as I think it would make the ultimate pack rifle. The safety is in a weird place when you use the carbine kit. Oh... and the Neos trigger sucks. Its very creepy. That hurts it with accuracy. I bought a discrete two compartment padded case from Galati International that fits the 2 pieces perfectly.

I've looked for one a few times in the past year. No luck. Saved searches are your best bet. You'll be lucky if you can write one without an annoying number of unrelated items being caught.

FWIW one thing I find frustrating and a little baffling is the non-existence of a factory threaded-barrel upper for the Neos, as the pistol is set up to change barrels easily, and the high sight plane should easily clear a can. (Same goes for the similarly-designed S&W 22A.)

OTOH to repeat the ongoing speculation about the Neos Carbine Kit, I have a hunch that we won't see it reintroduced on the U.S. market due to the ease of assembling it into an SBR. :(

I actually don't think it's too bad. I grant you it's creepy and it also has a good deal of overtravel, but the one I fired was smooth creepy, which is easier for me to deal with than gritty creepy. :)

Do not hesitate if you find one,,,

Beretta said thy would not be importing them again,,,
So if you do see one, snag it quickly.

Mine is the most fun semi that I own,,,

Its my understanding the Ruger 10/22 Takedown and Charger Takedown barrels interchange, so the ability to do the same exists with the Ruger products.

I have very seriously thought about having a 6" Neos barrel threaded, and getting a stamp for it, and making a suppressed SBR out of my Neos Carbine.

I already have a 4" Neos barrel threaded...

Jim Pixley threaded my 4" barrel. I have spoken with Eric at EWK Arms, and he will thread the Neos barrels with his screw in adapter. I would go that way with another Neos threaded barrel, as its cheaper, and the rail doesn't need undercut.

Thanks for all the info . . .

Thanks you all for all the info. I may continue looking for a kit, but there is so much other fun stuff out there that I have plenty to keep me entertained in the mean time.

Assuming this is true—I don't know—at least one has to purchase additional parts in order to make it happen. The Neos Carbine Kit provides everything you need to construct your own "Go Straight To Jail" card, right in one box.

(The intent to this statement is merely to point out the stupidity of the NFA as it pertains to modular firearms.)

BTW I assume that the EWK Arms conversion involved what I saw on another forum as installed on a S&W 22A – the shop counterbored the barrel, threaded the inside of the counterbored portion, and added an adapter for the suppressor, thus avoiding having to undercut the rail. Correct?

Many of us own both the 10/22 and Charger Takedowns. No addition parts are needed.

Yes that is correct. EWK Arms has been doing this for years, originally starting with the S&W Model 41 barrels. He has started offering the service on other barrels recently.

Hello Prof Young,,,

Thanks you all for all the info. I may continue looking for a kit, but there is so much other fun stuff out there that I have plenty to keep me entertained in the mean time.

My advice would be to buy the first one you see,,,
If your Lady decides it's not her cup of tea,,,
You'll have no problem peddling it away.

In my area they are very sought after,,,
Myself and two other people I know get constant offers.

In fact, I recently turned down an offer for $275.00 for my kit.
