It finally arrived from Buds Gun Shop dot Com,,,
Not that Buds wasn't quick to ship,,,
The 3-day weekend delayed it.
I bought an off brand set of "tall" Weaver scope mounts and a nice short 4X scope for it,,,
The scope was so short the mounts would only fit in one place along it's length,,,
So naturally the mounts wouldn't align with the Weaver rail grooves.
I decided to use a Cabela's Pine Ridge 4X Rimfire scope I had laying around,,,
This scope was long enough to allow me to align the rings to the rail,,,
But the off-brand "Tall" mounts weren't tall enough for the scope,,,
The 32mm diameter scope touched the rear aperture sight.
I ended up using a set of Weaver Brand "See Through" mounting rings,,,
These were tall enough so that the scope didn't rub the sight.
The added advantage of using those "See Through" rings,,,
Was that it brought the scope high enough for comfortable viewing.
I'm 6' 2" tall and the stock really is a small carbine size,,,
With the lower mounting rings I really had to hold the stock very high on my shoulder to see through the scope.
With the Weaver See-Through rings it is now comfortable to sight through the scope,,,
And I really can still use the iron sights if I scrunch up a little bit.
I took it out and zeroed the scope in at 50 yards,,,
I was rolling a tin can very handily with Federal Bulk Pack ammunition.
10 magazines of 10 with no problems at all.
This isn't going to replace any of my other .22 rifles,,,
But it's a fun addition and will be ideal for young kids to shoot.
Now that the scope drama is past,,,
I'm very pleased with this latest purchase.
