Beretta Neo

My newly purchased Beretta Neo jams on me quite a bit. Beretta suggested that I use the higher velocity 22LR rounds. I've only had the opportunity to shoot one magazine of CCI high velocity ammo and it did not jam. Can't judge until I can shoot it some more. Has any other individual had this problem?

I have three of them,,,

Two are pistols and the third is on the carbine kit,,,
I had that problem with one of my three.

But after a good cleaning and a few hundred rounds,,,
That problem went away.

Now mine all run nicely with Federal bulk,,,
They also run with some Remington mil-surp I have.

Clean it,,,
Oil the rails,,,
And shoot it a lot.

I'll bet the problem goes away.

Did you clean it first? A lot of Berettas come with a good amount of viscous packing grease inside; this grease is not a proper lubricant. It needs to be cleaned off first, and then a proper lubricating oil should be applied.

The only problems I have had with my Neos is that the little tiny extractor claw needs extra attention at cleaning time. If your jams are failures to extract have a look at that.

The Neos began life as the High Standard Duramatic. Made to a price to try to take some sales from Ruger, it was not a very good design and was too ammo sensitive. Depending on a very close balance of recoil spring vs firing pin spring, it had a lot of problems. Then when H-S folded, it became the Colt Cadet. When Colt was told the name "Cadet" was still owned by Iver Johnson, it became the Colt .22. Then Beretta bought the rights and called it the Neos. It is still not a very good design and is still ammo sensitive.

Hhmmm,,, really?

It is still not a very good design and is still ammo sensitive.

This has not been my experience,,,
And I own three of them.

They all run anything I feed them,,,
Mini Mags to Remington Golden Bullets,,,
Even some old Remington LRN milsurp ammo.

They run on them all.

Maybe I'm just lucky.

Why would you make a statement like that? You are entitled to your opinion, even if its wrong. I have 2 Neos pistols, and the carbine kit. They are certainly not my only 22 pistols. They function with many different brands, and types of ammo, including Standard Velocity. I cant remember the last time my Neos had a malfunction.

I don't own a Neos (and never would due to the styling, which just isn't for me), but the several people I know who do own one love them and say they're about the furthest thing from ammo-sensitive.

Good for those whose Neos's function perfectly. But the OP had problems, which is why this thread exists. I don't understand how owners can deny that at least some guns are ammo sensitive when Beretta says to use high velocity ammo to correct a jamming problem.

My wife has one and it would choke on standard velocity when it was new. She shot a couple of bricks of mini mags thru it (remember when you could just go buy 22 ammo?) and since then it hasn't had any problems with anything except CCI sub-sonic. If she's ever cleaned it she does it at night when I'm not home. Still has a crappy trigger and handles like a water gun but it's accurate enough to chase a golf ball around at 25yrds. It's her favorite toy.
