Beretta Mags in P99?

I pose a question to all Walther P99 fans. One of my fellow fnhipower.com forum members asked if Beretta 92 hicap mags would work in the P99. I have no experience in this so I ask for others to answer.

Thank you.

If they work, let me know.
I doubt they will though.
P99 mags are $100 +
Beretta 92 mags are $40
I'm praying they work. ;)

Someone at fnhipower.com says a buddy and he switched tops on a 9mm and a .40 P99 and everything worked. Do the .40 mags work in the 9mm? I used to hear this story about the beretta years ago but never got around to trying it.

You can try www.gunbroker.com . Under mags/clips and do a search for Walther. They nearly always have some. The price has gone up a bit, but they have them from $70 to $100. I got some for my P99 and P88c for $75 each.

If you want who I dealt with, you can email me.

I recently bought several Walther P88 (full-size) mags. I commented on how they looked somewhat similar to Beretta mags, and the shop owner replied that the Beretta 9mm and Walther 9mm mags are interchangeable, but one has to cut/move the mag catch cut-out to make them work in the other brand.

I have read and seen posts elsewhere where in it was said that the full size Walther P88 mags will fit in the P99 and latch properly, but will stick out 1/4" or so (note that the P88 compact, at 14 rds, will not seat full inside the P99, so can't be used). So the inference is that Beretta mags will work in a P99, but may need the mag catch cut-out notch modified.

I have a 92 and P88, and I can slide the mags inside the other pistol. For those who tried to insert the Beretta mag into the P99, did it go in but not latch?

If one was attempting to get hi-cap P99 mags, getting the Beretta mags to work vs the P88 mags (if it can be done) is the way to go. Beretta hi-caps are PLENTIFUL, and about half as expensive as the P88 mags are going for now.

Regards,

Dumb question

How about S&W99 magazines?

I would imagine they would fit in the Walther P99. Do they have high cap & are they cheaper?

The full size factory P88 mags will not fit in the P99. I have tried. The distance from the cut-out notch to the feed lips is not the same. Since I do not have a P88 Compact, I can't say for sure whether those mags will fit the P99. I have read the opposite of RCx in that they will fit in the P99.
