Beretta mag capacity

I just got a brand new Beretta 92 and the guy selling it was nice enough to throw in 4 pre-ban mags (marked PB CAL 9 PARA MADE IN USA) The mags are in good shape but look like they seen quite a bit of use. When loading one of them I noticed that you can easily pack 16 rounds into them. I fugured that the spings were used up and got 4 new springs from BUSA. Same thing with the new springs installed. All 4 mags can be loaded with 16 rounds. I don't have much experience with double stack mags, so I'm forced to aks the stupid question. Is this normal for these mags?

Thanks in advance.

Normally a berreta 92 mag will hold 15 rounds for factory.
Several posabilities exist

1. Non factory mag
2. Could be a .40 smith mag which I believe will hold 16 rounds of 9mm
3. Some kind of base plate of follower modification.

The Beretta manual says: "When brass of ONE cartridge can be seen entering the lower hole (speaking of the witness holes on the magazine), the magazine is loaded to it's full 15 round capacity. DO NOT TRY TO FORCE AN EXTRA ROUND INTO THE MAGAZINE!!! (emphasis their's) The felt additional space is needed to insure perfect functioning."

I hope this clears this up!!;)

most beretta 15rd mags will hold 16rds. the mags you have are normal factory mags and nothing is wrong with them. i personally wouldn't advise loading them to 16rds; this will wear the spring faster and could cause the gun to be less reliable. better to be on the safe side and load the gun to the capability it's designed for.

The Beretta mags will hold 16 rounds in most cases. I have some USA brand aftermarket Beretta 92FS mags (flush fit to the grip) that will hold 17 rounds, but they are also labeled "15 rounds". Stuffing it past 15 does tend to squeeze the spring, but no worse than many of the new stupid 10-round mags with a cut-off bottom that require a sledge hammer to get the tenth round in.

Well, this certainly clears that up.

Believe me, I have no interest in exceding the 15 round mag capacity. Before I got the 92FS the highest capacity pistol I had was 8 rounds. 15 is pleanty for me, just wanted to clear up this little puzzle.

Thanks guys.
