Anyone know how many of these Beretta is making? I am thinking about buying one and storing it, just as a collectors item.

I looked at them. They don't light me up.

While I love the Beretta, putting a few badges and some fancy lettering on a gun, then putting it in a big box with a 4 dollar holster you'll never use, does not make a gun a collector's item.

I'd say to go for a regular (or stainless) Beretta, and spend the extra cash on some hi-caps and holsters you'll actually use.

I believe the M9 was a special limited edition, but I'm not sure on the number. The Cat Pak Cougar .45 was limited to 2000.

I have a 1997 Beretta retail price list that claims 10,000 M9 Special Editions will be made.

I haven' seen very many of these. I have one and have only heard of one other in the area. THey are nice guns and I got a good deal on it. It looks nice and shoots great. so why complain :)

I have an M9 Special Edition and it's a thing of beauty. 10,000 were produced. Some time before it came out, the "American Rifleman" ran an article on the few M9-marked Beretta 92s that were legally in civilian hands. Given that the DOD will not release any more of them, the M9 Special Edition is as close as most of us will get to owning a martial Beretta.

Now I wish SIG would produce an M11 Special Edition!
