Beretta M9 Modifications

Any suggestions on simple changes and modifications I can make on the M9 so that it's easier to shoot and handle? Any one have favorite aftermarket parts or accessories they'd like to recommend? What about things like trigger springs to make that DA pull a little lighter?

I assume you're talking about a pesonally-owned Beretta, and not one issued to you by the government. Someone might get a little upset if you start messing with one of Uncle Sam's weapons.

No crap,

There I was at 0415 hrs on the floor searching every nook and cranny for that pesky magazine release spring.

You could always drop in a 92D mainspring, which lightens the DA pull a bit. Believe that these come standard in the EII and it's also a change that LTT makes for (I believe) the Level 2 trigger job. An even lighter spring goes in for a Level 3.

Maybe its just me but I have never seen/had/felt the need to alter my Beretta in any way, shape or form, outside putting Hogue fingergroove grips on it. I guess some people are different but I have no idea why they have to tweak their pistol, action or trigger work, etc.

Beretta Mods

I have done nothing to My 92Brigadier...only thing I *think* would be good would be some sort of recoil buffer.

You can get a "Dual Action Recoil Spring" at http://www.efkdragon.com/ ( or at numerous other web sites);
and there is a another variation on this that utilizes a mercury-filled rod.

Some people have claimed a noticable improvement in recoil, but mostly with larger calibers than 9mm -- esp .45s.

Maybe some day I'll drop the $60 and see...

This most impressive mod that I did to a Beretta 92 was have Jarvis fit a match barrel. Accuracy improved a lot.

I never even dreamed/contemplated/imagined having work done to my Berettas. Then I had an opportunity to shoot a friend's 92fs that has the sweetest DA/SA trigger bar none. Now, I'm contemplating having similar work done to both of mine.
The trigger instantly makes everything else function more efficiently...sights stay aligned better, barrel somehow locks up tighter & shoots STRAIGHTER, even the rounds feed better...IMHO , YMMV :)

The only work needed to get a crisp 3.7# SA pull on a 92 is to polish the sear face and drop in a "D" hammer spring. It also lightens the DA pull of course. Don't change any sear or hammer face angles, just polish the face until shiny. Grease with some synthetic lube and then ask somebody try to tell the difference between your gun and a pro trigger job(they can't).

I'll second the spring change (or clipping 2 coils off the stock spring) and polishing the sear as a major improvement.

Substituting a standard 1911 hammer spring for the one in my 92FS made both the double and single action trigger pulls considerably smoother and lighter and I've had no ignition problems. Read about this some years ago (one of the writers in American Handgunner said SEALs had shown him this mod). It works well.
