OK, I've seen this in a thread from 2005, but there is some new info and I didn't want to resurrect the old thread. I want to buy a Beretta CX-4 Storm 9mm carbine and have the barrel threaded to attach a sound suppressor. It is possible that this will make it an evil assault rifle (though it seems a bit of a gray area). Whether it would or would not be illegal, I have decided that to be on the safe side, I would change out some parts for US-made versions and thereby avoid any potential issues. So, here is the question. Does anyone know which of these parts would be found in the CX-4?
(1) Frames, receivers, receiver castings, forgings or stampings
(2) Barrels
(3) Barrel extensions
(4) Mounting blocks (trunions)
(5) Muzzle attachments
(6) Bolts
(7) Bolt carriers
(8) Operating rods
(9) Gas pistons
(10) Trigger housings
(11) Triggers
(12) Hammers
(13) Sears
(14) Disconnectors
(15) Butt stocks
(16) Pistol grips
(17) Forearms, hand guards
(18) Magazine bodies
(19) Followers
(20) Floorplates
I am aware that the maximum allowed is 10 parts. Using a US-made magazine eliminates 3 parts, and I found a supplier for a US made hammer and trigger. I basically need to find 5 or more other items on this list that are either not present in the CX-4 or have US-made replacements available. Any help would be appreciated.
