My local dealer has a used, he claims the customer returned after 1 day, never been fired for $469, $589 for new. Any warranty issues? I was considering the couger over the 96fs for 2 reasons, a little smaller, and a designed to be a 40cal, as opposed to a 9mm with a larger hole in the barrel.

If you must have a .40 go with the cougar. If you dont mind a 9mm definatly, without question go with the 92.

JS,

If you can get that Cougar for $469 I'd jump on it.

For CCW, the Cougar is better suited for the job as it's a bit smaller and lighter. Mine is a .45ACP and I like it just fine. The rotating barrel does what it's supposed to and reliability is excellent.

As for warranty issues, I kind of think that if the previous owner only had it for one day he probably never got around to sending in the warranty registration card. If it's still in the box you are all set.

If you are looking for a cougar, I have seen ads for them in SGN or GL from www.midwestgunexchange.com I believe, and the price was 450 or 499 I can't remember. But it was for a "cat-pack" model which includes some very nice black wood grips, very nice looking if you have not seen a cat-pack cougar. You may want to check it out.

My Cougar 8040 was my first centerfire auto pistol. It is still my favorite carry piece.
