Beretta Brigadier 92 Opions

I have decided on getting a Beretta 92 pistol. When i happen
to see the Brigadier in a magazine , it's states that the slide
is more thick , and a few other things . I was just wondering if anyone ownes one , and if it's any better than the standard 92's ?

The only Brigadier version I have shot is the Elite 2 (nice gun). The slide is noticably thicker than a standard 92. I think the only other difference in the Brigadier is that the front sight is dovetail mounted. The thicker slide is supposed to make the Brigadier more durable and to lessen felt recoil due to its greater mass. I have shot numerous M9s in the military and have found all of the ones I have used to be accurate and trouble free. Whichever you choose, I'm sure you will be satisfied if it fits your hands (92s are big!).
 
I own two Berettas... a 96FS Inox and an M9. Both wear the standard slide and neither have given me the slightest of problems. Also, it's much easier to find leather for the standard slide Berettas. I really think the Brig slide isn't needed unless you want to experiment with different sight arrangements. Besides the Brigs are ugly, not as graceful, in my humble opinion. However, which ever you buy, you will really like it!

The 92FS Brigadier is an
excellent choice. I'm guessing you
are not in Law enforcement, and the heavier brig slide appeals to you.
It did to me too,thats why I got
the Brigadier as well. But I didn't
get it in 40sw because that round
has too many problems with it .
The 100 yr old 9mm is plenty good
enough for me.Surpls ammo is always on sale as well as commercial .
With 9mm i shoot more often for less
The Dept of INS wanted a gun
with both sights dovetailed and
removeable . So Beretta beefed-up
the reguler slide to accomplish it.
It turns out the heavier slide helps
reduce muzzle flip and recoil too.
Getting the sights back on target
for double taps is easier as well.
Wilson has holsters for the Brig. You won't believe it, but
Beretta's new gun The Vertec has a
new 92 slide which has both sights
dovetailed , but it's NOT a Brig
slide .It's a reguler wt. slide.
I like the beefy Brig slide .

The Brigadier and Elite guns do feature the thicker slides, which are more for keeping muzzle flip down and increasing slide life (for competition shooters). The Elite II is a great gun, and comes with factory installed Novak sights. It is very accurate, and also has one of the best double action triggers in the business. Try it and you will like it.
 
I still have my Brig in 9mm and it is the softest shooting 9mm I have ever shot. Like you said, nothing wrong with either but I wouldn't trade my Brig for a standard one. Some kydex holsters for the standard won't fit the Brig (Fobus comes to mind). Hope this helps. Mike
 
My 92 Border Marshall is a variant of the Brigadier, and it's a fine gun. The reinforced slide is impressive. The replaceable front sight is a good feature.

That said, it'd be hard to go wrong with any Beretta 92.
 
If you plan on doing any kind of competition, I'd recommend an ELite. The beretta slide safety is just too far away to quickly deactivate. For CCW, you could just use it as a decocker and then flip it off for carry, but most competitions would make you keep it on. The ELite turns that lever into a decock only, it automatically flips up. That way you will have the DA function without having to worry about the safety (like most other DA guns). Look at the Vertec, it is supposed to have a new grip that may be more comfortable. When they have a decocker-only version, I'll look into it. The beretta is a good choice, it is very reliable, accurate, and hi-caps are still very cheap. It's more suited to a duty gun or competition due to its size, but there are folks who can conceal it. The heavy slide does make finding a holster more difficult, but not impossible. LAter.
 
The Border Patrol is involved in more shootings than any other federal LEA. They like the Brig, I'll take one too.
