If you plan on doing any kind of competition, I'd recommend an ELite. The beretta slide safety is just too far away to quickly deactivate. For CCW, you could just use it as a decocker and then flip it off for carry, but most competitions would make you keep it on. The ELite turns that lever into a decock only, it automatically flips up. That way you will have the DA function without having to worry about the safety (like most other DA guns). Look at the Vertec, it is supposed to have a new grip that may be more comfortable. When they have a decocker-only version, I'll look into it. The beretta is a good choice, it is very reliable, accurate, and hi-caps are still very cheap. It's more suited to a duty gun or competition due to its size, but there are folks who can conceal it. The heavy slide does make finding a holster more difficult, but not impossible. LAter.
