Beretta BM 59/62

Does anyone have information on this Garand style .308 rifle? The BM 59 is the select fire version and I think that the BM 62 is the semi auto only version. I need to track down an original looking recoil pad, and would like to find a reference source on serial numbers for dating purposes.

hickman, I have a Bm 62 and a manual I got from Beretta. The best source of info is:mailto:info@reesesurplus.com
They carry a few of the guns and parts and even the rare 62. These are absolute top quality battle rifles and I prefer them to the M14/1A rifles.
I'm sure this will help and good luck!

The manual I have is for the BM 59, and actually is more of a description of the various types of BM 59s than a standard owners manual. Am I right in thinking that the 59 and 62 are the same except for the select fire diference? Although I have had the BM 62 for only a couple of days, it does seem to handle a bit better than the M1A (I have a bush model). Thanks for the reply.
