Beretta AL390

Im thinking about buying one, what kind of shell would I have to use to get it to perform correctly?

Anything special about these types of guns I need to know before buying one?

Probably one of the best autoloader designs ever produced. It will work with just about any ammunition.

Great shotgun.

RoscoeC hit the nail squarely on the head. I suspect history will treat the Beretta auto as a benchmark gun.

What are you planning to do with the Beretta? If you reload, and want extra-light or super-boomers loads approach them incrementally -- the Berettas are good; but, they can't totally rewrite the laws of physics. :)

The best autoloader ever made. They'll digest anything. Mine has had thousands of rounds through it.
Everything fron 7/8oz 1200 fps skeet loads to 3" turkey loads cycle fine.

Okay so I bought the gun, took it home took it aprt and cleaned it. (It was used)

Now it wont fit back together anymore!!!!

It goes back together but the piston is sliding around making and awful noise, anyone know the fix?

What am doing wrong?

Help!!!!

I used to have one. I agree they are great guns. When putting it back together you put something back in the wrong order. I no longer have one to look at, but I did that a few times in the past.

Not only one of the best, but better than the AL 391, which is also one of the best. (I have or have had several of each.)

I've gone over the owners manual and put in on in order but whenever I open the chamber the piston slides up and down...

THAT sounds like Remington 1100!
A happy R-1100, if the piston and piston seal aren't free to move, then your gun's got gunk in the gas works.
