Beretta A303 ...no bang...drat...

I have just for beans replaced the mainspring thinking that maybe it could be weak. No dice.
It will misfire on about 1 per box.....at trap...grrrrrr.
Kinda breaks your concentration.

All I have to do is recock and fire the same shell a 2nd time and everything is hunky dory.

The first tap puts a dinky little dent in the primer. Next tap primer looks like the rest of the ones that DID go off.

Possible it is ammo. My scores improved drastically when I changed to Federal General Purpose shells. (3 dram is faster an better timed to me I guess)

But I think those shells have steel heads. Possible the steel needs another whack to seat the primer fully?

Steel could resist full chambering?

Anyone have fix?

I....HAVE...been rather neglectful in cleaning lately and am going to try more with a clean oiled chamber.

Clean and lube the bolt also. My guess is that thetre's a grunge buildup around the area of the firing pin.

My old 1100 would shoot **part of the time** with a broken firing pin spring. I dunno about a Beretta, something to check.

Will look at the pin. I havent been lazy enough to let grunge build up on the OUTSIDE of any parts. (my main forget is to swab the bore....but it's chrome)

But I have NOT played with the firing pin.

Federal Multi-Purpose Loads

I have had a few batches of these Federal shells with hard primers, and had the exact same problem that you describe, with about the same frequency.

I'm not sure what you mean by "steel heads", though.
