I am puzzled about the chamber loaded indicator on my 96FS. In my manual on saftey feautures D.5 on page 5 it talks about the chamber loaded indicator. When I have a cartridge loaded I get no exposed red warning dot on the extractor? Am I missing something? Any help would be appreciated!

Its not a dot, but a thin red line on the extractor that is visable from above. You can also feel the extractor is loaded in dim or total darkness. Takes some practice.

I looked at the loaded chamber indicator once about 4 years ago when I took my 92FSC of the box for the first time. I haven't looked at it since. I just know that there is always a round in the chamber. And of course you can always just retract the slide a bit to visually confirm the presence or absence of a round.

On the right side of the slide, on the top front edge of the extractor is the loaded chamber indicator. It is possible to work this red marking out with time. It might just be my extensive cleaning. Of course I can still feel portrusion. Load up a snap-cap and compare the feel of the extractor to an unloaded gun.

And after you've cleaned the gun a few times, the red paint on the side of the extractor will wash off so you won't see it anyway. Don't worry about it.
