I am thinking about buying a Beretta 96 stainless and I would like some opinions on this gun. I carry a 92 in the military and I have never had a problem with jamming or anything else.
I had one not too long ago. It was very reliable and accurate. But, I got rid of it as the trigger guard would bang against my index finger when I shot it.
there is a "beretta forum" around, you might have luck there, or do a search on this forum.
A Beretta 96 was my first gun. I carried it for a while and shot it a little. No problems with it at all. It was my only gun in .40, and I decided to stick with 9mm and .45 in my autos to keep things simple. Traded it recently for a Ruger Redhawk.
My 96 has been reliable and reasonably accurate. It is my wifes main gun and she got her carry permit with it, so I am very pleased. My only problem with it is several years ago we had a rash of followers break in the magazines and had to replace 3 of them inside a month. No other problems.
Liked mine. It was the best shooting, most accurate, most reliable 40 *&* I owned (also had a G23 and a P16-40). Sold all three. Never really liked the round, personally prefer 9mm or 45acp
If you like the round and you like the 92 series, get yourself that 96 and enjoy it
The 96's problem is its very breakage prone. In fact the boarder patrol specified an after market wolf trigger spring to eliminate one area of specific troubles. The 92 series is best as a 9mm. ALso 96's are not known to be very accurate from the people I have talked to that have carried them as a duty weapon.
