I would like an opinion on a S&W 40 Berretta model 96 FS
This a new ss with the American Flag on the barrel and a script,
"United we stand" on the barrel. I'm new to automatics. I am a revolver guy, however I am open minded am am willing to listen to you guys who have a lot of experience.

I will apperciate you comments, good or bad.

Thanks,

Ben

I love my 96FS. I shoot it as well as my 1911s. Recoil is a non-issue. I have never had a FTF or FTE. It eats Corbon, Winchester, Speer and Wolf without complaint. The only minor issue I have is that the front sight is not dove tailed on the FS model. You can find Brigadeer model with the dovetail front sight for about the same price the commemerative models are going for if it's an issue.

IMHO, the 92/96 Berettas are the most under rated pistols on the market.

I really like the 96fs. For me, it is the best shooting of all the 40S&W I've shot. I was a little leary at first, but after many 1000's ouf rounds, it has been utterly reliable, durable, dependable and accurate.

Usually those types of guns are bought as collectors items and are put away. If you want a shooter, I`d go for a regular production pistol.

I also have zero complaints about my 96FS Inox. Flawless reliability and very easy on the eyes, to boot!

P.S. If you like the commerative model, buy it! I like guns that are different, and buy my guns to shoot, not just admire.

My 96G works perfectly. The recoil is lower than most pistols and the thing is damn accurate. Reliability and durability are top notch as well.

The 92FS and 96FS are the most reliable autos going. Accuracy is good enough to get the job done, a good all around weapon.

i have a 96fs in blue with hogue grips

i had almost given up on the .40 after experience with the sig 229 and glock 22. they had sharper recoil and less accuracy than i expected. then i picked up the beretta as payment on a debt...

my 96 is:
1. more accurate than either the sig or glock
2. milder in recoil
3. natural pointing
4. extremely reliable

also:
1. dove-tailed front sights are nice but i can live with the stock one.
2. no need spend $$$ on mags (only gain 1 round w/LE only mags).
3. as big as it is, a well design holster will allow CCW (i'm using a alessi ACP)
