Beretta 96 and 96 Compact

I'm a glock shooter, but have always liked the way the Beretta looked (particularly in the stainless/inox finish). So I'm currently considering purchasing a Beretta 92/96 fs or fs compact. At the moment, I'm leaning towards the 96 because most of my glocks fire .40SW, and if I ever need to use the gun for home defense, I would prefer to fire the .40 over 9mm.

The big question I suppose is whether to buy the compact version of the 96 versus the standard version. Has anyone fired the compact versions? How do they compare in terms of handling to the full size version?

Any comments are greatly appreciated.

I have a 96 centurion and a 92f and 92fc.the 96 centurion and 92fc have the 4.3 inch barrel. enjoy them both......use a harrts rod in the 96. i prefer the shorter barrel. I switch the hammer springs to wolf 16lb springs, and put night sights on both. Both are excellent and have fed and fired everything. I do also own a glock 17 and 23........again with night sights. I am left handed and find that in some modes of carry I pop the mag release with the glocks.

I'd opt for the full size grip. How about the 96 Centurian? Full size grip with the slide/barrel of the Compact? Sounds like a winner...
