Beretta 951 Brigadier

I once threw away 150 on a clone of a 1951 Beretta. It was a single stack 9mm that had the beretta 92 profile, designed around 1951, and was SA. Mine was a bit rough, but accurate. It had absolutely no ergonomics in mine when it was designed. Maybe the actual Beretta was better, hope that helped.

The Beretta 951 Brigadier is a very good firearm of exceptional quality. Was used by Italian Armed Forces and by military in Israel and Egypt (tough environments for a pistol). Egypt licensed and produced a copy called the Helwan whose quality of finish varied from sample to sample; but all I have fired - even the UGLY ones- have been extremely reliable. The 951 ergonomics are quite good and I have no problem with the unusual safety which some people do not like. Of course, it was the predecessor of the 92 series pistols which added DA/SA. The 951 is SA only. I like the pistol very much and have the "real deal" as well as a Helwan, as imported by Interarms. Early on Steyr had imported some (slightly better quality, IMO).
