Beretta 92s Custom fit grips

I was pretty hesitant to buy one of these things due to the lack of grip selection. I contacted a company called LOK Grips and inquired about them sending me some blank Beretta 92 grips, without the US mag relief cut. They were happy to do that for me, so I ordered them. The fit of these grips are excellent! Very tight tolerances.

I took a ton of eyeball measurements and used my drill press to rough cut the mag hole out. I made sure I was on center and stepped the bit up until I had the right diameter. I then took a hand file to finish it off.

From there, I used my dremel and a sanding drum to put in a scallop for my thumb to have more room to roll over the mag button instead of having to come perpendicular to the button. Made a huge difference in actuating the mag release.

I also had to hog out a portion of the right side grip to allow the mag release action to work. Overall I think it looks great! Just thought you guys would want to see a 92s with some better grips on it. Hopefully you guys enjoy the pictures!

Here is a video explaining the process

92s

I purchased one of these 92s' and the grips were very smooth. It was hard to hold on to the pistol while shooting it. I first put 3 rubber bands around the grip and that helped. Then I found a rubber/finger grip and I cut it down so it would be above the mag release and that felt just right.

If I wouldnt have gotten the crappy plastic ones, I probably would have kept them on. Iv seen some that come with the rubber grips which look a ton nicer. If my frame wasnt so bad paint wise I would leave the finish as well. Its going to be cerakoted tomorrow I think.

guy seems really nice i tried ordering some blanks of the 92s for a project but he said he has to drill the screw holes in. :( Sadface

The grips on mine are just the stock plastic kind, but I guess they never bothered me. The gun feels great to me, in every way (including the grip), when shooting. I also am the type of person that likes to stick with the factory look on most guns so there's that. I was also lucky enough to get a pistol with virtually zero frame/slide wear (one of the guns from Dan's Ammo - thanks be to WVSig for the tip). Even the internals look almost brand new. Maybe I would have more desire to customize if I'd received a pistol that had more wear.

Austin,

I am about to take it to get cerakoted right now. Should have it back in a couple day. Ill post pics for sure! :D

Looks good. I have yet to find a grip I love on my 92.

Still on the hunt for Trausch grips.

Have you tried the Wilson's. They fit noticably better than the factory grips and also feel a tad slimmer to boot. The texture feels great in my hand and really allows me to grip it tight.

Thanks! I will definitely look into them. Now to decide between the thin or the ULTRA thins from Wilson.

I believe the VZ Grips are the same as the Wilson's. They were just a little cheaper when I picked up a set. I got the VZ Tactical slants and love them.

It looks beautiful. The comination of the Cerakote and the modern-looking grips with the classic lines of the 92s make the gun look really interesting. Some people think it looks garish when old guns get re-finished but I think you've done a great job of choosing a tasteful look that matches the classic style, FWIW.

Kudos from this novice gun owner.
