Beretta 92FS vs. 92FSC

In my never-ending search for a Beretta 92, I came across a 92FSC in VG condition, very little wear and tear, with 2 13-rd mags and box and papers for about $500. Now, I've wanted a 92FS for a while (see previous posts) but I've never considered the compact because I've never seen one for sale before, believe it or not!

I'm going to test-fire my friend's tomorrow morning, can someone fill me in on the major differences between the pistols? Can you use holsters for the full-size with the compact? Do the mags even fit from the full-size into the compact? I'd imagine that if they did they'd have a bit of extra length hanging out, but I'm sure if it works there's a company that's made an adaptor out there.

A_96, I have an Italian made 92SB Compact (circa 1981) with a few 13 rd mags. Ergonomically speaking it is acceptable enough. Kinda short and fat in the handle. It took some practice to "find it" when drawing from the holster.

As for reliability, it does not like to be dirty. NEEDS to be cleaned every 200 - 300 rounds.

Trigger - not impressed. I need to find a smith to work on it. Your milage will vary.

Accuracy - better than pretty good.

Sights - not so much. I am thinking of having a smith cut some dove tails and replace them.

Decocker / safety - I do not like these on the slide.

Mag release - too small

Mag well - way to tight - mag changes are exceeding difficult. I am going to dremel tool the **** out of this thing to give it some relief.

I have used this a few times in IDPA - but I believe the shortened grip limits the gun in this capacity.

If you are looking for a CCW gun and accept the design features of a Beretta, and keep it clean - sure, go for it.

I just shot the compact that my friend has, and while it's a sweet shooting pistol, I think I'm going to go for the full-size if I can convince an acquaintance to sell his. Otherwise, I'm going to get sucked into the Glock vortex...
