Beretta 92FS - US vs Italian made (need your opinion)

I just want to hear your opinion on quality comparsion of US vs Italian made Beretta 92FS (black finnish). I never handled the american made one as it is quite rare to see them here in Europe, but the Italian production is standardly available. However, there is the option of ordering one from US, but is it worth?
Thanks in advance for your comments. RBull

U.S. Berettas

Rbull, either will serve you very well indeed. If I had the option, I would buy an Italian one, but I have 2 Berettas, a M9 and a 96FS Inox, both made in the U.S. and have been very pleased with their performance. I even used the 96 as one of my qualifying guns for the Nevada CCW test.

I think the Italian made Beretta has a slightly better finish, but that is the only difference I have ever found between the two.

I have 2 Italian Berettas and have been very satisfied w/ its performance. I have a little experience w/ an American made 96fs and was impressed w/ it as well. Go with either, you really can't go wrong w/ Beretta products ;)

U.S. vs Italian Mfg Berettas IME-

The Italian 92s are much better finished, deeper blued etc, the American 92s are simply more accurate.
I've also found that the GI chrome lined barrels are more accurate than the stock STS barrels in the Elites when swapping them into the Elite.

Among the Berettas I've seen, the Italian guns appear slightly but noticeably better finished than the USA guns. So--IMHO--the flat surfaces of Italian Berettas may be a little smoother, the edge lines a little neater, the tool marks a little fewer, and out-of-the-way areas may receive a little more attention than on their USA counterparts. I'm personally not aware of any functional differences.

I might add that--on a different message board--I was thoroughly flamed and my ashes were scattered through the wilderness for stating the foregoing opinion. It's not meant as a criticism of USA Berettas. I own USA as well as Italian Berettas and am pleased with all of them. Anyway, I'm all combusted. :)

Many thanks for your opinions, sounds like there is nothing wrong or inferior with the Italian made Beretta 92 and that is what I wanted to hear :)
In fact I started this thread because the dealer at my local shooting range stated thet the U.S. made units are MUCH better made and directed me to look for the reference on the Internet - so I did :) The point is that they do have one Italian made Beretta 92 in their rental inventory (that is the one I have been shooting that day), so the guy had the gun presumably in his hands many times. Dunno what caused his opinion about the superior quality of U.S. made Berettas, but it seems this is how the urban myths are starting - he is telling that to other people who are taking this as opinion of professional and so they spread the word further. In fact, I have heard from lot of people here in my country (Czech Republic), that Berettas are "fiat like" guns (=poor quality), which is obviously opinion based on no real experience, but rather such rumors as I mentioned above. On the other hand, I have spokenwith guys from local SWAT unit who have both, CZ-75 and Beretta 92FS in the inventory and they told me that the CZ is experiencing stoppages sometimes, but the Beretta almost never (please do not get it wrong, they still consider the CZ-75 as good handgun. it seems most of the stoppages is caused by jam of spent case, could be weak extractor spring or something like that).

Popsicle,
I also own a 92 and 96. I've found that the 96 much more accurate than the 92. I even had a trigger job done on the 92 but it didn't do much good. What's your assessment of the accuracy of the two?

I have both. The finish is the primary difference. The mags are of a much better finish.

I do not know why, but it seems to be true.
