Beretta 92FS or Beretta Centurion?

Finally decided to go for a Beretta, now I've got to decide whether to get a 92FS or a Centurion.

Does the Centurion use the same mags as the 92FS?

Can I use a 92FS slide on a Centurion?

Is the Centurion as reliable and as accurate as a 92FS?

Is the Inox model worth the extra money over the blued?

Do Inox models come with a chromed barrel?

I hate the new Hogue grips that come with the Inox model, are the classic Beretta grips still available for sale?

Both should use same mags
Centurian slide and barrel are
shorter than full 92
Both have same reliability.
Depends on your taste.
No. The Inox( inoxidable in
Italian) barrels are NOT
Chrome-plated. The Slides and
Barrels are plain Stainless, but
the Aluminum Frames are Anidized
in a color to match the SS
Hope that answers some,
Ponty

Thanks

Ponty,

Thanks for the help. I think I'll wait for a blued version. I really want to get a chromed barrel.

Just some advise on Chrome lined Barrels

Stainless barrel material is more machineble than Chromemoly.
You can hold tighter tolerances and better surface finishes therefore all match barrels are made of S/S so they are more accurate!

I used to have a Centurian. Was accurate and reliable. The ONLY difference is that the barrel is 1/2" shorter. I prefered it as I didn't see the need for that extra 1/2 inch, it is a big gun. I traded mine for a Glock 19 because I decided I wanted something smaller.

Both will provide similar(if not identical) performance. The Centurion seems to have a better balance for me. Yes they do take the same mags.

Chromed barrel

Thanks for the info on stainless barrels. I was leaning to a chromed barrel because I was told it would last longer and that it could resist a greater variety of ammo. Is my gunsmith off on this? He's been known to be wrong in the past. :)

I believe that Beretta's blued steel barrels are chrome lined and that the stainless are not. Reports I've read state that the stainless guns are about 30% stronger than the standard blued steel. There are a few blackened stainless Beretta's around if your set on a black piece.
