Beretta 92FS lube discoloring question.

After going to the range today I was looking over my 92FS and for some reason the gun grease I applied to its frame and slide rails is all black now. I would assume it turns black due to being shot. Note: the gun itself has NO discoloration, just the actual grease.

In particular is the feed ramp area of the frame. The grease here is really black. Anyways, check the pic out, is it normal for the grease to turn black after being shot or have I applied too much grease to the frame and slide internals?

Someone else who can't sleep either I see

Yep, the grease turning black is normal. That's just powder residue and carbon mixing together to form that appetizing mix.

That's a nice trigger on that Beretta BTW.

Yep. My stainless 92FS looks exactly like that after being fired. After it has been cleaned, mine will also get a brown rust color in the slide rails, but that is just more fouling that sweated out of the bore and hard to reach places I din't get.
