Beretta 92FS - Help identifying recoil spring and guide rod

I recently purchased a Beretta 92FS and after going through it I noticed that it has a captive recoil spring assembly. I’ve poked around on the net and have not been able to find a match. It’s actually pretty convenient compared to the standard one that tends to fly across the room unexpectedly when pulling the slide off. See attached pics. Born-on date for the pistol is 1992.

Hopefully some Beretta guru’s can chime in.

I believe what you have is the 92A1, a beefed up 92
which originally was designed to handle the .40 rather
than the 9.

You can Google for particulars on the model but it does
have the captured spring, a rounded trigger guard and
a dove-tailed front sight. The slide is beefed up over
the standard Model 92 as is the locking system.

Maybe an aftermarket part. Or for a PX4 or APX Beretta. The original springs and rods for the 92 are not in a captive set.

The new rods are plastic, too but if you get on Beretta's web site, you can get a stainless rod and the spring to go with it. I'm thinking if you give them the serial number of the gun, they can get you the right part.

I have a 92A1. The guide rod is a solid piece, not segmented like this.

I probably should have included a picture of the entire pistol. It’s definitely a 92FS.

The spring assembly can be compressed some before the guide rod is forced to protrude. I have not disassembled the spring assembly but it is multi-piece rod and I believe has an inner spring as well (I still need to verify that). I have not looked into rods from other pistols yet as was suggested. I’ve looked at a bunch of online pics and have not found a match.

OK, I see now which I overlooked that the
subject gun is from 1992. I suspect a
previous owner substituted the standard
recoil spring and guide rod for the one now
in the gun. Springs and guide rods are
available from Wilson Combat or Beretta USA.

By the way, Wilson Combat and Langdon Tech
specialize in upgrading the 90 series models.
The 92 is one of Bill Wilson's favorite pistols.

Thanks for the tips. I checked the websites of all the companies referenced and none appear to carry a captive spring assembly. Maybe I’ll start sending emails with pics to each of the companies to see if they’ve seen anything like it.
