Beretta 92FS grip question

I was dry firing my 92 when I noticed something about the grip. Just below the decoking lever there is a indention on the grip. I am wondering is this is meant to be a thumb rest while shooting, or if it is there to aid in activating and de-activating the safety?

I guessing its just there for ergonomic reasons when using the safety lever but I wanted to get some other opinions.

The red arrow in the picture below points to the location on the grip I am referring to.

It's just there to make things more "ergonomic." More for the slide release than the safety. Grip it in your right hand and imagine using the slide release if that indent wasn't there. Those of us w/ smallish thumbs really appreciate it.

The rubber grip is standard with the INOX 92/96. My 92 is not the INOX nor does it have the rubber grips, but it does have the area pointed to by the red arrow. Now that you mention it, does anyone know if you can purchase those rubber grips from Beretta?

Those Grips are just Houge grips. You can get them with or without the fingergrooves. I think their website is http://www.getgrip.com Good luck

Those grips are not standard on the 92 Inox. The 92 Inox Tactical Edition comes with 2 sets of grips, plastic and rubber. The grips pictured are Hogue grips. I have the exact same Beretta as pictured above with the Hogue grips.

Here's a pic of my Beretta 92 Inox Tactical with the Hogue Rubber grips. Grips costed me $14 bucks.

While we're talking Beretta grips - Anyone know where I can get replacement grips for a Mini Cougar 8040?

the grips are made by hogue.

beretta is now putting hogue rubber grips standard on most if not all of their stainless guns.

CTC if you are looking for grips for that cougar try Beretta Direct. (1-800-636-342)They should be able to get you what you want or at the least point you in the right direction. G.R. and its a toll free call
