Beretta 92 slide switch?

I am asking this question for a friend of mine, I think I know the answer but want to be sure. We are both familiar with the inner workings of the Beretta.

He is thinking of purchasing a 92 FS in 9mm, and wants to know if he buys a 96 slide and magazines is there anything else he has to do to make the gun functional and fire .40?

I know it is possible because Beretta makes a package deal with both slides, but does it require a new slide or just barrel and magazines? Does the ejector need to be replaced like some other guns?

Thanks for your time.

If I am not mistaken, you would have to replace the slide and barrel to move from 9x19mm to 40S&W. The reason is that the outer diameter of the two barrels is different. CHanging the slide will also change ejectors.

Umm, you are wrong.

Changind the slide will change the extractor, not the ejector. The ejector is on top of the receiver, not built into the slide.

Anyone else got any info on this?
