Beretta 92 Punch sizes?

Arg, Ok so being a fan of the 92 pattern guns as I am I should probably already know this and yet I don't.

I know the safety lever roll pins are especially a PITA.
every time I've had to detail strip the slide I've used make shift punch + finishing nails of various size.. It works but it's hillbilly as hell.

So im about to place a few orders at various stores online, figure I better find out what size punches I need so I can order them and save on shipping (if they have them)

So does anyone have a list of pin sizes? or punch sizes the 92 needs?
Especially the smaller ones like the right safety lever?

The safety lever roll pins are officially 1.5mm but I ground down a 1/16" roll pin punch just a tiny bit and it worked on them. I've had my 92 almost completely disassembled, didn't remove the sear, extractor or firing pin using just my ground down 1/16" punch and a 3/32" punch.

Here's some expensive metric punches at Brownell's but they're not roll pin punches.

Here's a decent 1/16" roll pin punch at Amazon

or some decent sets for a reasonable price

BTW, if you've never had your Beretta completely disassembled here's a really good guide.

Thanks At least now I know what to look for.
Ya I've heard of Tekton, kinda spendy but I heard they was good.

I found this set on Amazon, it's metric, and it appears geared towards HK smithing.. they have a 1.4mm but not 1.5.. but Im wondering that might just work.

There's also this Winchester branded DAC set

It's got 1/16 solid and roll pin punches I could grind down like you did.. Im currently using a harbor freight 8pc which honestly has served me well but this set looks nicer..

or maybe get both?

Oh while we're on the subject anyone know a good place to get bulk metric roll pins?

I buggered up one of the pins a while back, got it fixed up good enough but next time I take the gun down I know I wanna replace it.

Harbor freight sells Standard roll assorted roll pins but not metric and it's too expensive to buy "beretta" pins when a roll pin is a roll pin.

If you do decide to use a 1/16" punch maybe grind was the wrong word to use.

1/16"=1.58750mm so you're only taking off .0875mm which is 0.0034 in, not very much at all.

I used my WorkSharp knife sharpener, another guy put the punch in a drill and used some fine Silicon Carbide sandpaper.

If you are pushing roll pins and not straight pins the you need a roll pin punch. Roll pin punches have a pilot in the center of the tip that keeps the punch centered on the pin. That pilot keeps you from damaging the gun and the pin.
Stay away from Harbor Freight and other stores that sell the "General" tools as their punches are soft and will bend easily. I have several sets of punches and a couple are roll pin punches in SAE and Metric. Get good tools and you will have them for a long time.
