I have been wanting to get a Beretta 92 for a while now, and I am kind of glad I have held off. While flipping through the cable channels yesterday, I saw a movie where a gentleman whipped out what looked like a stainless Beretta. I went to the Beretta website and sure enough, they do exist. I have never seen one in person. Anyone here have one? Are they as pretty as they are online and on TV? How much are they going for, new or used? I am really a sucker for stainless guns. :D

I've been shooting stainless Beretta 92's for 10 years now, no problems. Just bought a new Elite II last week. Beretta claims their stainless guns are 30 % stronger than the regular steel. When researching just look for the Inox designation.

As some may recall, I'm still on my quest to get a 92FS. It's interesting, but I haven't really considered a stainless, although I guess it would make some sense in terms of durability.

I had never heard that their stainless guns are "stronger" than their steel pieces. Where did you see that?

Other than that, why stainless? Am I looking in the wrong direction?

Check Six.

I have one and it looks MUCH better than it would on TV. Go to your local gunshop and look at one up close. I'm sure you'll love it.

BTW, it is a great shooter and one of the best 9mm pistols I've ever handled.

An Inox 92 FS was my first pistol in 1992. Amazing, but I wonder how many 92s were sold because of Die Hard and Lethal Weapon movies? :) Also check out Ronin as Jean Reno whips out his Inox 92 during the car chase. My 92 is of Italian production and I have the original stainlee mags with the silver bases which are hard to find now days

As good as a Beretta 92 is in the hand, the Elite II is even better. I have seen them for $675 in Atlanta (the Elite II that is).

I only have 2 gripes. First, I don't do well with black on black sights, so the Elite II needs some modification for me. Second, they don't have a .45 ACP version.

My first handgun was a beretta 92 with the bruniton (black) finish. I really wanted to get the INOX but found a great deal on a LNIB bruniton. THEN, I found out about the elite II model... if you think the INOX is pretty, take a look at an elite II!!! Stainless slide, bruniton frame, novak sights, and lots of other great extras! I shopped around hard and found a private FFL dealer that would order it for me from his supplier with a $30 markup! So I ended up paying $670 for a brand new Elite II!! :D This price was $120 less than any other quote I received!

The bottom line is: get a beretta, shop around for the best deal and you may be able to afford more than you think!

If you want a "Beretta movie" you MUST checkout the "Replacement Killers". This movie must have been sponsered by Beretta as there are so many 92s (blued models and stainless ones) in this movie that it is unreal.

Note: The 92s featured may be fakes though as some of the things done, and the way they are handled seems kind of fakey as if they were really lightweight replicas....... Still a cool movie by all means.
