Beretta 92 "Compact" INOX...

Kentucky Rifle

At my regular gun shop this past weekend a Beretta caught my eye. I wish I had more numbers or designations to describe it for you all, but the lady behind the counter called it a stainless 92 Compact. If anybody has one (or even knows what I'm trying to describe), may I please have your opinion?
To me it looked like a really nice pistol, but I'd like to read some opinions. It was in 9MM and only slightly smaller than a regular size 92.

Thanks,
KR

The compact to me seems to be a perfect sized 9mm. I have the type M which is a single stack (8rds) instead of the double stack. My grip is thinner so it feels better for smaller hands though my hands are large and it shoots well for me. Can't really tell any recoil difference between the full size and compact. I believe there are 13 round mags that will fit the compact.

Hope this helps. plunker

The 92C is indeed smaller than the 92FS. But that still leaves it at size big. Dimensionally its pretty comparable to a Sig 226.
I have a 92 Custom Carry, essentially a Brunitron finish 92C. Absolutely love it. Great shooter. Had the action/trigger worked on and its great. 13 round non-neutered mags are available provided the one your looking at is a double stack. The 15 round mags for the 92FS will work just fine in the Compact, they just extend past the grip a bit.
All in all if you like Berettas, IMO the 92 Compact is a great pistol.
Take Care

I have the 92 Compact L [whatever the L means] 13 rd mag's and a fine shooter. I wouldn't exactly call it a compact. This is a blued finish.

Direct from www.berettausa.com

92 Compact L: 10 round capacity (likely neutered from 13)
92 Compact L Type M: 8 round capacity

When I was looking for my first centerfire pistol awhile back, I thought the 92L Type M would be the way to go because of its downsized grip and smaller overall dimensions. However, finding one proved impossible ... I still like the idea, but haven't seen any! Only downside IMO is smaller cap mags.

* I've never felt smoother slide action than the 92/96 ... like it's on rollers. Sweet!

Johnny Rad, where did you get the info on the L series? I've had this weapon for several year's, and it came with 3-13 rd mag's. It work's perfectly, like you say very smooth slide action. The biggest improvement was changing out the trigger return spring to the Wolff conversion unit. Dramatic improvement in an already fine weapon.

I popped over to berettausa.com for a quick refresher. I'd bet your pistol and 13-rd mags are pre-ban - obviously, I suppose.

I really like the 92 FS but went through 3 of them because they were just a little too long and a little too tall to carry in my favorite fanny pack. I'd get rid of one, remember how reliable and dependable they were, get another one, and go through it all over again. I finally stumbled across a 92 FS Compact with 2 13 round mags, and found my Beretta. Its a great pistol, and carries well. It's just enough shorter and less tall that it fits my fanny pack well. I've never seen many of them at gun shows, and don't know if they're still available.

See, smoking crack makes you tough. Notice the scowl.

AteaM - let this brotha help a whytee out:

Snoop ain't p*ssed, he confused. See, he just gots hisself a pak a Kools fo $2.95, gives Moulhamid a $5.00 an he be all wonderin if Moulhamid be all like rippin him off by givin him a measly $2.05 back.

Edjamaction.

I have one (Italian - blued - circa 1981). The trigger no where near as nice as my E2 but still..... Nice piece. They are a bit fat, but, not so fat you will have probs concealing it.

good luck.

Custom Carry

I also have a 92 Custom Carry. It's a great gun. Very accurate and probably the gun that i shoot the best. It's great at the range and was my original CCW gun. I have since added a G30 and P9 to my collection so i find that i carry it a little less in the summer.
