Beretta 92 compact 9mm...Good Choice CCW?

I've seen lots of talk on this site about 9mm mostly in regards to sigs and glocks but not much talk about Beretta. The negatives I've seen here about Beretta are the large frame and long trigger pull. I have a somewhat large hand thus a truly compact or sub compact type weapon doesn't feel comfortable. I would appreciate hearing from those of you who know something about the reliability, durability, and ACCURACY of the Beretta 92's, and perhaps specifically the 92 compact, and can describe the trigger pull on the first Double Action pull compared to the subsequent Single Action pulls. I've shot a stock taurus double action only snub nose revolver .38 spl. Couldn't hit a barn... trigger pull is too stiff. The taurus belongs to a small hands female. She comes real close to needing both hands to fire the weapon. Will the the Double Action pull on the Beretta 92 be as stiff?
Thanks

I'm a big fan of the Beretta 92 and the 92 Compact. However, the "Compact" is hardly compact. In fact, it's larger than many brands full size guns. Though I can appreciate you wanting something for large hands, the 92C can be a difficult thing to tuck away nicely out of sight. I believe it was designed more as a sidearm for detectives and female officers who wanted a smaller handgun, but concealment was not their priority.

Having said that:

Reliability - as reliable as they get.
Durability - as durable as they get.
Accuracy - More accurate than I am and more accurate than most "combat" handguns.
Double action pull - That's just something you'll have to try for yourself. The DA pull on Italian Berettas is excellent (most compact models were Italian made). The US made ones are a bit rougher but certainly up to par with all the other popular top-end handguns. You cannot, however, compare the DA pull of an auto pistol to that of a DA revolver... they're two different animals.

My 92C got decommissioned to the back of the safe years ago. There are just too many other carry guns that work better for me these days. It's still a great gun though. Thanks for reminding me I had one... I think I'll go shoot it tomorrow. Good luck in your search!
