Beretta 9000S.....

This gun looks great, is anyone seriously considering buying one? I assume its going to be out soon, since they are advertising it now in magazines. My dealer seems to think that they will be able to sell it for approx $420 (retail is in the mid 5's I guess).

I'm going to attempt to force myself out of buying it immediatly- wait to hear some reviews first. Of course this philosophy has never worked before.

I read the story in Gun World also. I will be all over that puppy when it hits the street!

I'm aching to get one in my hand :D And as soon as I do I probably will buy one if I like the feel and if I feel its worth it :)
My local dealer had a wholesaler paper who said they had them. Haven't had a chance to go back to see if he got one in :)

I spoke to my dealer in AZ.
He said not to expect them at least until next summer. I want to fondle one too, if just to compare it to my G26.

Beretta told me that the 9mm will be available in August 2000.

I think this is available now if you can find a dealer that has them, because they are on the Beretta website as being out. I have to agree this is a very nice gun, I have been looking at the Beretta 92 or the Taurus 92 but after seeing this one now I'm confused again on which one I want. :) www.beretta.com/pistole/9000S.htm

I also really like the 9000S, but one thing concerns me. I'm considering trading in my SIG 239 .40 (night sights & Hogue rubber) on it because as much as I like the way the 239 feels, shoots and looks, I have to contort my thumb to keep it from touching the slide release thereby causing the slide to fail to lock back on an empty mag. The 9000S and 239 are similar in most dimensions. Biggest difference is in height- 9000S = 4.8, 239 = 5.2, which is good, but also in width- 239 = 1.2, 9000S = 1.6!!! The Beretta 92 is only 1.5 wide! What makes this little puppy so thick? Could it be a typo? Either way, I predict that this gun will be the Next Big Thing in the CCW market like the mini-Glocks have been for the last 3 or 4 years.

Any truth to the rumor that Beretta will be offering the 9000S in .357SIG?

I could definitely see a 357sig version, that would be nice. Haven't heard anything about it- only the 9mm and 40 will be available initially. If the gun is a success, which I am sure it will be- I think there very well could be a 357 version.

I've been wanting one ever since I heard about them, but I don't like the idea of the thick grip on it though.

Heard or read somewhere they were going to offer the .357 Sig in the Cougar line. But I'm in need to see this 9000 series.

1719, I agree- I am a bit concerned on the thickness issue, hopefully the measurements are a mistake- which I doubt.

I read that the standard 92 magazines will fit and work with a collar type spacer, fancy that? Now I MUST have one!!

JG and others -- I handled the 9000S at the NRA convention in Charlotte. The measurements are accurate -- this gun is fat. I didn't care for its feel.

Oh, now I'm depressed- I don't want it to be fat, the way you said it "this gun is fat"- does not sound reassuring. Well, hopefully my dealer will get one in the year of the flood- so I can have a feel.

I would like to handle one due to the thicker grips. I tried for many months to find a Compact type M, single stack vs. of the 92 and was completely disappointed that the perfect fit of the full size did not carry over ergonomically in the smaller version. Maybe this 9000 is just what I need.
