Beretta 84 Safety Removal Help Please

I just bought a Beretta 84F from Auction Arms. I got it cheap, but there is a problem. The thumb safety will decock the gun but won't stay engaged (or "click" into disengaged either). I can see that the safety plunger appears to be stuck in the safety lever and not sticking out far enough to hold the safety either up or down. I have tried to get it loose, but it looks like it may be rusted in. I can get a new plunger and spring and even a new lever if neccessary, but I can't figure out how to remove the safety lever. Can anyone tell me how, or direct me to a resource that expains and/or diagrams how to remove the safety lever?

Pick up a copy of the gun digest firearms assembly/disassembly manaul for automatic pistols. The 84f is on page 57 to 64. Barnes and noble has them in stock.

It is a great manual with many pictures to help you get it done. Any attempt by me to verbally write what needs to be done is going to mess it up.

Sounds like there's more involved than I first thought. I am returning the gun to the seller for a refund. I will still be out the transfer fee for my dealer plus return shipping, but I decided it would be better to cut my losses at this point.
