Beretta 687 questions.

Hello, I have a question:

What's the differences between Beretta 687 Silver Pigeon and 687 EL and 687 EELL in your opinoins. How can you tell these guns apart by its appearence?

E = extra , L = lusso [luxury] The more Es and Ls the fancier the engraving etc . Just figure each E and L another 0 on the price !!

The only stupid question is the one you don't ask! :D

They all shoot the same. The more "E's" and "L's" the higher the price for basically the same gun.

They all shoot the same.

Not exactly true. I shoot my 687 EELL Sporting far better than I do my 12 ga. SP II field grade gun. They are two entirely different guns IMO.

The more "E's" and "L's" the higher the price for basically the same gun.

But they look so much better with the "added touches". :D

Please don't post stupid questions!

Kind of a rude thing to say to a guy following his/her very first post. How is one to learn if he/she can't ask a basic question? Everyone needs to begin somewhere.

How can you tell these guns apart by its appearence?

In simplest terms, yes.

First, I would like to thank the people who tried to answer my question.
Second, havent anyone heard that there's no such thing as a stupid question?

Third, maybe i didnt make myself clear enough. I wanted to know how. Is it the engaved side plate that we use to determine which one is which? or is it something else? :D

It is the finish and engraving that denotes higher grade guns. The higher grades will have fancier engraving, sometimes hand engraving instead of rolled on engraving. They might also have gold inlays. The wood usually has more figure.

Check the Beretta site, they will have pictures of the different grades somewhere.

Any gun can be altered to handle differently, but the grades usually have little to do with handling, just with esthetics.

Oh, what the heck, nothing like an excuse to browse the Beretta section at www.gunsamerica.com

I always get a chuckle out of how the nicer guns get better pictures. It's almost like the owners of the plainer less expensive guns are embarrassed. :)
