Beretta 21/950BS carry readiness

How do you guys carry these two? With respect to condition. It would seem the 21 is safe to carry with a round in chamber and ready for DA pull. The 950BS would seem safe to carry then with the hammer down as well? Then one would need only to cock the hammer. Is this safe/unsafe? How do you prefer to carry these two? Also, are they drop safe? Thanks.

Beretta pocket pistol carry mode

Hi Sox,

I will defer to greater wisdom but it seems to me the first choice would be cocked and locked like a 1911. Full cock and safety on. There is a halfcock position but I would not consider that position for cocked and locked. Full cock and safety on makes good sense. Don't trust the halfcock position with the safety on or off. Don't.

The second choice would be chamber empty, safety off, hammer at any position, then rack the slide to chamber a round. The safety has to be off to rack the slide. You don't need the safety on when the chamber is empty.

The above two choices assume pocket or holster carry.

If you want night stand safety, leave the tip-up barrel empty but have a round nearby. Leave the hammer cocked or not. Chamber a round, close the barrel and you're ready. Or, leave the tip-up barrel open with a round in place but don't close it until you need to. This assumes no kids or strangers ever in your house. Tip-up barrel pistols offer many possibilities for the thinking user.
