Bent extractor rod

The extractor rod of my S&W Model 64 seems to be bent--it revolves off center as the cylinder rotates. But I don't know whether any bend is too much bend, or if a slight bend is okay, or whatever.

IOW, what would I look for in terms of problems resulting from a bent extractor rod?

TIA.

Most significantly, stick/poor extraction, failure to lock up at the front end of the rod on the barrel lug, and rough action cycling while firing.

Have a gunsmith check it out.

Smith & Wesson is dead to me.

If you want a Smith & Wesson, buy USED!

If you can depress the rod all the way as if you were extracting cases from the cylinder and the when you move you thumb the rod rebounds to it normal position and you dont feel any bind or tightness then leave it alone.

Check other revolvers and you can see a little run out when you spin the cylinder, as long as there is no bind, its not hurt. If some gunsmith tells you it needs to be corrected, odds are he needs some coffee money.
