I have a 12 Ga. in the corn stock pattern. This shot gun is billed as a low recoil. Well I got news for them! It's kicking the crap out of me. Does any one else have one and what are your opinions. When I get around to it it is GONE!

Perhaps you don't have the stock properly adjusted. Is it beating your shoulder, cheek or both? Also, some of us gray beads aren't as resilient as we once were.

I think it's partly a grey bead thing zippy. And strange as it might sound because of the configuration of the trigger housing it beat the whack out of my second finger. Just not comfortable with it!

interesting ....and I don't have one ....but I hear just the opposite from owners...

I can see in its photo's - that the trigger guard does kind of have a weird shape to it / but it sure doesn't seem reasonable that it would move rearward far enough to hurt your finger...( but its your hand / and your gun ..) :(

With the comfort tech system in their guns / I find them pretty soft shooting guns ( but I have the Super Sport models in 12ga and 20ga ) and they are different. I would recommend you add some weight to it / and on my SuperSports I put about 8 oz inside the forend around the mag tube / by using "golf club lead tape" ...and then another 8oz inside the stock. I tape the weights down / one I get the balance point on the gun - the same as with no extra weight. It reduces the recoil / and it changes the handling characteristics on these real light guns - so they swing better on follow-thru because they're all under 7 lbs ...

The length of pull on it is 14 3/8" according to their site ... and I wonder if you can come up with a way to add another 1/4" or so ...even if it was just something temporary ...like a boot or something ....maybe it would make a difference.

Hate to see a shooter give up on a new gun ....

My first shotgun was an A5 Browning and I will say nothing since then compares to my Vinci in the recoil department. It's not like shooting a 410 or anything, but its about as soft kicking a 12 gauge you're gonna find.

You should have got a good gas operated shotgun like the new Browning Maxus, or the new Beretta A400 Xplor Unico.

Remington is supposed to have a brand new high tech gas operated autoloader out now too.

.

It might help to know what you are shooting in it as well. My wife has the new A400 - even though it is rated for them, I would not shoot 3-1/2" goose thumpers out of it. It DOES do wonders with my 3/4 oz. target loads though.

It sounds like this gun doesn't fit you. Actual recoil is what it is....perceived recoil is the "kick" that folks remember and the bruised cheeks, etc. - mostly caused by a gun that doesn't fit that person properly.

Doesn't the Benelli come with the adjustable shims ala Beretta? have you tried changing them to see if that works?

First shot was a 3" turkey load. Went down to 2 3/4" high base. Went down to target loads for trap. I can stand the punch to the shoulder it the beating my hand is taking. Finger on the trigger, it's the next finger that is getting beat to hell and a back for some reason. NO MATTER how tight I hold on to the gun that finger end up black and blue. Of course I'm seventy years old now and bruise very easy. I'm going to get rid of it as I can not stand a sore hand all the time. I have a 12 Ga. SKB over?under and have NO problem with it at all. Should have found some one who had one and tried it before investing $1500.00. No fool like an old fool!

There is no way a recoil system is going to be at the top of the low recoil list. As indicated above, get a Maxus or SX3 if you want low recoil and faster shooting.

This is the most expensive shotgun I ever owned and the most dissatisfied with one I have ever owned. She is broken down and in the black carry box. She will be gone. I am dissatisfied and will not spend any more coins on it!

I have a Vinci as well. It’s a great shotgun especially for my use…but it beats my shoulder up too. Even with standard target loads.

Everyone that I have let shoot it so far says they don’t like the felt recoil. Maybe it’s because it is so light? I’m really not sure.

It sounds like that model does not fit you well at all. I shoot VERY light target loads - so light I have to handload them - only 3/4 oz. There are some factory loads out there with 7/8 running only 1200 fps - they are very soft as well. If you are shooting 1-1/8 at 1250 or 1300, find the really light loads and see how that does for your shoulder. Otherwise, changes to the stock dimensions will be needed to correct the fit.

A light gun will have more actual recoil shooting the same load as a heavy gun. A gun that doesn't fit you right will have more felt (perceived) recoil, even if it is heavy

To Oneounceload: I was shooting Remington gun club target loads. I think it was 1-1/8 at 1,255 fps if I am not mistaken. I will definitely try some lighter loads and I'll let you know how that goes as well. I do not doubt that fit might has a lot to do with it.

At the end of the session my shoulder was busied pretty well... It’s a light shotgun so for the most part it is to be expected.

What are some options that you know of to make the fit better? I have absolutely no experience with this at all. Any help is appreciated.

To Zippy13: Nope, it is not hurting my hand at all. Just my shoulder…

All in all I like the Vinci and for my use it’s just about perfect. I’ll be going pheasant hunting with it again on the 27th of this month and next.

In November Lance suggested a good gas operated shotgun. I got to looking and found a Winchester SX3 at a local Dick's Sporting Goods store. Very nice wood and good checkering. I bought on in a 26" barrel, 12 Ga. 2 2/4" - 3". It came with six shims for the stock so I guess it has the shortest stock available. WELL it comes up and nestles to my shoulder. the best fitting shotgun I have own and the recoil is manageable. Thank you Lance for good direction. Now if I can unload - - er I mean sell the Vinci.
