Benelli NOVA

Loved mine, wish I didn't have to sell it. I'd buy another if the opportunity arises. Always functioned and recoil wasn't bad.

Wife got me one for my birthday 2 years ago. 3.5in camo, nice gun. I killed a pile of ducks with it last season.

Just don't go running a 3.5in turkey load thru it for practice with out a sled or padding. I dang near dropped the thing. I wasn't prepared at all. It's light weight, which is a bonus most of the time, but you feel it on the other end.

If you have the extra $150 or so, get the super nova. It's got a 14 ounce mercury recoil reducer in the butt stock.

Beniilli Nova

Shooting mine this afternoon - five stand in preparation for goose shooting in central WA next weekend-
target loads are like being kissed by a young maiden - 3.5" like being kissed by an 800 lb gorilla but this is never noticed in the goose pit blind

fit, form and function have been excellent

Piper Cub "They are junk".
So why is that? Have you ever shot one? Do you even know what one is? Did it give you a booboo on your shoulder?????

My uncle had one that the firing pin would not hit the primer enough on Winchester and Federal ammo. Contacting customer service was horrible and after 3 months he got it back and it still had light primer hits. Very frustrating. He got rid of the POS.

My experience with the Nova is not that great. I don't personally use one. I exclusively shoot the 870, but my father won a new Super Nova in a raffle about 7-8 years ago at DU. Well the first 2 seasons of duck and turkey patterning the gun was GREAT. 3rd season, not so much. By turkey season the gun was shooting to the right and now he doesn't even spend the money patternin the turkey loads(while it still shoots good for duck hunting). I have seen it jam once in a while, but that was after intense mud hunting. I like the feature it has of clearing the mag without putting 1 in the chamber. Course dad is now exclusively using his classics double 101 12 gauge for all his wing shooting(well not turkey). Turkey he uses his 870(which is what i use for ducking hunting cause I dont like 28 inch barrels).

For wing shooting, I think the 3.5 shells are a littl overrated too. Its nice to get a little extra in there, but I havent noticed a difference in my shooting when I use the different loads. 3 inch is cheaper especially now with Mr. Obama in office and the ammo companies jacking the prices up.

I am also thinking about buying a Supernova but mine will be used almost exclusively for trap & skeet. Anyone shoot clays with this thing? Is it decent or do you have to be Tom Knapps?

Nova

I have had one (20 ga.) for some years now. I like the gun. It has always worked and continues to do so. It's one of the guns that I take when I'll be out all day hunting grouse. Easy to carry. Points well.
I have no complaints about it. I do, however, like my old Ithaca 37 Featherweight even more.
The POS remark threw me a bit also. Every make of gun may have a lemon, that doesn't make them all bad. I have an old Savage 430 that gives me light hits in one barrel when I try Winchester shells. Doesn't mean that all those other 430s that Savage made are bad guns.

i love mine but i shoot like **** this season so i have to go shoot at paper to see if its my gun or if i just fail this year :D

I think the Nova is a great shotgun, on par with the Rem 870 for reliability and accuracy (which is really saying something).

killed alot of ducks and geese with my dads- great gun...and it donf kick as bad as you would think with3.5 in t shot or even slugs

I miss the Nova I used to have. It was great but I decided to standardize on 870s. The problem I have with the Nova is the lack of choice in stocks. The SuperNova gives more choices but I want something like a Speedfeed IV-S, ie shorter LOP and with a limbsaver pad.

If I wanted to shoot 3.5" shells the Nova would be my first choice, above the 870 Supermag and the Mossbergs as the Nova is more reliable than the former and better balanced than the latter.

Did the super nova even exist 7-8 years ago?.
I thought they were fairly recent.
