Benelli M2

I'm new to shooting and an looking at the M2. What do you think of it for sporting calys and some bird hunting?

It'll kick a little more than a Beretta or other gas gun, so some wouldn't choose it for large quantity clays. Otherwise it's an excellent choice as long as you don't need 3 1/2" capacity, and 95% of us don't. I've got an SBE but would choose an M2 next time.

Great gun. If you are going to use it to target shoot primarily and hunt occasionally one of the gas operated guns might be a better choice since they will be a little heavier and the gas systems will recoil less.

For a hunting gun I think the Benelli is about perfect. The lighter weight is easier to carry around and unless you shoot hundreds of rounds a day the greater recoil will not be a problem. They are supposed to keep shooting longer if dirty, but I have never had a problem with any quality semi-auto regardless of the operating system.

Best Semi Auto Made IMO

If you can get over the price, I think they're great.

I have an M1 and just bought an M2...love 'em!

They are a snap to clean and shoot/cycle very quickly. For hunting, they are perfect. When I shoot a lot (clays) I like to wear a shooting vest that has a little built in pad to help with the recoil.

Not sure if that's the Benelli or just me getting a little older and a little less tolerant of pain. Probably the latter since I used to shoot hundreds of rounds through pump guns when I was younger and never complained. :D

M2

Thanks for all the replies. I've shot a borrowed M2 many times - about the only thing I've shot the last several years. I'm going to shoot a Beretta 391 later this week or next, then will decide between the two.

Thanks again.
