Benelli M1014 Shotgun/M4 Super 90 jam?

I really dont know much about firearms but I have purchased the above shotgun. After taking it out for a spin with some 2 3/4 shells i got at wallmart this thing would jam like crazy. I remember being told that since it is gas operated it uses some new technology where you can even mix different kinds of shells and it shouldnt matter. Has anyone had a similiar experiance or has any suggestions? BTW I dumpet tons of oil into the breach just in case but it didnt help.

If I were you I would try to get some info from the Benelli people.
