So you lucked into 8-10 thousand dollars in guns.

Some guys have all the luck. :(

I hope you will enjoy them, sincerely. :D

the krieghoff was recovered from a lake, the case kept out most of the water but there is still some damage to restore. i was thinking of taking it to the pgca gunshow in may and selling it.

I would take the K80 to a Krieghoff service center and have it checked over. They will replace the springs and properly lube it for around $150. If the wood is OK you may be able to sell it and sell it for 10 to 15X your cost.

:D

there is a good bit of surface rust and the barrels have some pitting on the surface. the action is good and the wood is sound, but has some damage to the coating and needs to be refinished. it has the o/u barrel and the single high rib barrel. also standard engraving.

A K80 two barrel Trap set goes for around $12,000. new. Used guns for less of course.

Great thing about the K80 is that it is highly modular, barrels and stocks are designed to interchange easily. The receiver is the heart of the system and should be looked at by someone who knows Krieghoffs. I would spend the money at a Krieghoff service center to have the action overhauled, new springs, lube etc. The gun is designed to be refurbished quickly and easily.

If the bores are OK the surface rust should not be a problem. Even pitting can be re done. Wood can be re finished. I would remove all the metal from the wood and let everything dry out, forend iron included.

The big issue is damage to the trigger mechanism. K80 triggers make swiss watches look crude. Some parts are blued and may have rusted. Have you removed the stock?

You may have to spend a few dollars to get the gun looking presentable. But I bet it still shoots.

Some folks just get lucky :D

Wallowing in jealousy :(
