Benelli M-1 Tactical

Greetings,

I have a Benelli M1 Super 90 Tactical with a 14" barrel, and was wondering:

1. What mount do you recommend for an Aimpoint scope?

2. What sling do you recommend?

3. Do Wolff recoil springs help in avoiding cycling problems?

4. Is porting the barrel a worthwhile endeavor?

5. Are MMC sights a big improvement over the stock ghost rings?

6. Is there a better lighting system than Surefire?

7. What ammunition and modifications would you recommend for use in CQB/House clearing scenarios?

Thanks,

1. There's a bunch out there...I use a GG&G

2. HK or a Giles

3. Why change? Have you had problems? "If it ain't broke don't fix it"

4. No(in IMHO)

5. Yes

6. No

7. CQB - 00 buck, house clearing - No. 7

I own a personal 18" model with rifle sites. It will feed anything I put thru it. I have it decked out with a sidesaddle, giles sling, surefire 6volt lite, and extended cocking lever with oversized safety.

At work we use 14" entry guns decked out with the meprolite ghostring nite sites, giles sling, surefire 6volts, sidesaddles, extended cocking levers and oversized safety. These are fussier on power factor on ammo. I use strictly the hottest loads we can get. 00-buck magnums and quick shok slugs. Benelli recommends at minimum of 1-1/8 oz load weight, and we find the hotter the better. I also find that if I lube with tetra oil on the bolt carrier and rails that they fundtion flawlessly even if one of my guys flinches it, with softer loads and unslipprier lube if the gimp then we get short cycles.

I would not port it, it doesn't need it. I could not tell you about the aftermarket springs, the factory ones work fine.

Greetings,

It sounds like your duty setup is the same as the plans I have for my Entry. I'm glad to hear that I am on the right track. As far as lighting goes, I was going to use the standard SureFire 617 6 volt setup UNTIL I found the newest setup from Surefire. Look at these links:

Looks great, but I wonder how much of a change in handling characteristics the verticle grip makes, (ie. would the gun still be as nimble in close quarters?).

Your thoughts?

Ditto for me Mooser...

Some folks love 'em...Personally I don't like pistol grips/fore grips on mine...they get in the way.

One other thing wrt slugs. I use Brennekes...the wad is screwed on(I seen wads do some pretty significant damage at close range)

Nice site Mooser!
