benchmark vs h335 and why?

I tested benchmark with cci 400 primers in a 223rem bolt gun and h335 with cci 450 primers in a 223rem bolt gun and both shoot very well.

I would like to pickup a 8lbs jug today and having trouble deciding.

I have 2k mag primers cause I thought I was going to use h335 but now BM is a player.

what powder of the 2 and why?

new to this so looking for advice.

target shooting yearly, hunting in the summer, fall and winter if that helps.
 
If Benchmark is filling your needs, I would go with that choice because it is one of the Hodgdon Extreme powders with low temperature sensitivity, while H335 definitely is not immune to temperature changes. Bottom line, you should see loads that perform fairly consistently despite changing ambient temperature conditions.
 
if they both perform well, use the one that is more common/cheaper, or the one with the lower powder charge. 0.2 grains might nit seem like much but if you load a lot it adds up
 
 
H335 is my go to powder for 55grain V-Max. It just has done so well for me. Note I am a fair weather shooter. I am not going to be out in the cold here in Texas. I will wait a day or two for the warm to come back. If it gets into triple digit heat. I am going inside to somewhere cool. My pet load for H335 is on the top end of the load spectrum at 25.0 though a couple of sources have loads listed up to half a grain higher than that. I worked up to that load, and it works great in every gun I have shot it in. Friends accuse me of having magic bullets as it seems to do so well in any gun.

I have not tried the other powder as of yet though.
 
I use H335 behind 40 gr Nosler BTs, 55 gr Nosler BTs, and 65 gr Sierra GK's. And they shoot pretty much to the same POI with this new barrel. Benchmark is the powder that I say that I will try eventually, but the H335 shoots so darn good that I'm not sure when 'eventually' really is.
 
I am partial to BM. First, a 24 grain load under Sierra #1390 55gr HPBT Gameking is the best shooting round I have ever cooked up for my bolt gun. Second, a 48 grain load under a 405gr RNFP shoots very well from my 45/70 Guide Gun. Third, it's neither temp nor position sensitive. But that's just me and my $.02...........
